Center Stage Theater (CST) was founded as an integral division of Merkaz Hamagshimim Hadassah in 1997.
CST was conceived as a forum for young olim with varied backgrounds and at different levels of artistic development.
Its primary goal was to give these artists a chance to express themselves through theater in their own language in a
welcoming setting encouraging creativity, innovation and experimentation. |
Since its inception, CST has developed into a community theater featuring both olim and native Israelis,
spanning the range from first-time performers to trained professionals.
CST is a vibrant, innovative environment in which artists in all fields of theatrical endeavor can flex their creative muscle. CST is committed to presenting its audience with several quality productions each year, and is noted for the superiority and variety of its productions.
CST stages an extensive and multi-faceted repertory of Classics/Modern Classics, Musicals, Children's shows, Original plays and Experimental Theater.

- CST has also fostered initiatives to develop original and avant-garde theater in Israel, including the Annual Writer’s Showcase and ZOP! The Jerusalem Fringe Festival.
- CST has been awarded English Amateur Drama in Israel's award for Israel's Best Performance, and has represented Israel at international theater festivals.
- CST plans to continue developing the scope of its initiatives and activities, its audience, and pool of artists through new initiatives such as educational outreach and the inclusion of Hebrew-language productions as part of our regular season. We have also begun work to upgrade CST’s auditorium and facilities, a process which started with the refurbishment of our lighting and sound system in the spring of 2007.
- CST holds open auditions before each of its productions, and we are always pleased to welcome individuals interested in being involved in the creation of a production, whether onstage or behind the scenes.
