With the unfortunate ongoing phenomenon of sex trafficking in the world in general and in Israel in particular, the dedicated members of The Merkaz decided that they could not stand by in silence anymore. After contacting different organizations dealing with this phenomenon and research in the field, a work plan was set. Our group of passionate volunteers held two information sessions, in each one first giving out information about sex trafficking and what can be done, followed by a tour in the brothel area in Tel Aviv. In May 2006, a demonstration was held in the brothel area in Tel Aviv. 200 people participated in this demonstration, which was the first in Israel and was led by The Center for Social Activism of The Merkaz. The main speaker was KM Zehava Galon, the chair of the committee against sex trafficking, and our volunteers were invited to participate in the work done by the committee on the same subject in the Knesset.
