Project Shinui

People come to Israel for a wide variety of reasons, and stay because they find more than they had even expected. For many, volunteering in Israel is a wonderful choice of how to spend one’s first months learning the system and the culture, networking, learning the culture and the language, and starting off in a positive way in a new country.

Volunteering, an option facilitated by the existence of Project Shinui, provides a different view of Israel and is a great transitional experience for those seeking to further their careers.

“Shinui” in Hebrew means change. Project Shinui serves as a gateway for individuals and groups interested in devoting their specific talents and strengths towards affecting social change in Israel by directing them to Israeli social change organizations best suited to their abilities and interests. The Project stands to promote democracy, equality, and social justice. Working side by side with Israeli activists, our volunteers gain first-hand knowledge of the complexities and challenges facing Israeli society. Our volunteers work in various capacities for organizations focusing on different areas, including:

- Civil and Human Rights
- Coexistence
- Women and Society
- Bridging Social and Economic Gaps
- Klitat Aliyah (Immigrant Absorption)
- Sexuality and Diversity
- Animal Rights
